I’m going to be using some stock footage for this month’s ChewyInfluencer you may have already seen before, but I’m going to update you on my girls.

Dr. Elsey’s cleanprotein available on Chewy.com

Princess Yue Pants

Amalie

My lovely, fussy, “senior” (they said this at the vet’s office – senior, my face) ladies were able to try this directly from the manufacturer back in June 2017 before Chewy.com started carrying it. I heard about it through the grapevine and I had to try it. The low carb formula is high in animal protein and has a very low glycemic index. This is great for those with diabetic cats who can’t kick the kibble, and won’t take to wet food. You would still want to encourage more water consumption with a fountain, but those kitties can be stubborn! When we started, Amalie was 9 lbs 8 oz and Yue 10 lbs 3.6 oz, and at the time – we hadn’t yet started combination feeding with dry/wet food.

This month Chewy.com sent us a new bag for free and here’s how we’re doing:

Amalie is now 8 lbs 13.4 ounces
Yue is now 9 lbs 8.2 ounces

Amalie had her Senior Wellness Visit in February and had a full blood panel done and she’s doing great. Both girls free feed on Dr Elsey’s cleanprotein chicken kibble and then a variety of wet foods. While we didn’t try them in our home personally, Dr Elsey’s also has a cleanprotein wet food line in a variety of flavors.

I will admit, at first you may not find cleanprotein as budget friendly. The largest bag is 6.6 pounds. But, it’s a very high calorie food better suited for your favorite obligate carnivore, and the girls end up eating much less of it than the last kibble they were on. It truly seems to be better for them long term so I found it to be a great value.
